Everything here is airbrush, and almost all of it is at a scale where skin stops being a face and becomes a surface. The screen fills with an even peach field studded with a regular grid of dark open pores, closer to a printed textile than to a portrait, with inflamed red spots sitting among them. Cleanser runs down over the field in heavy pale drips, a second pass turns the whole surface grey and violet with white foam shapes breaking across it, then a fingertip drags cream over pores that are now small and pale. The argument is made entirely by redrawing the same square of skin, a move available to drawing and not to a camera, so the voice-over only has to name the two steps, "pesuneste pesee puhtaaksi" [the wash cleans] and "ja voide hoitaa syvältä" [and the cream treats deep down]. Bottle and tube are rendered in the same airbrush with hard highlights, tipping in from the top of frame, and the film closes on the range lined up on a pale ground, carton, bottle, tube, stick and sachet. Enlarging teenage acne until it fills a television screen is a blunt thing to put in front of an audience, and the film does not soften it.
