Esso Uniflo, oil
Esso / Vistakuva
A photographed tiger walks across pale rock and snow, and a yellow grid lays itself over the animal and follows the walk, bending with the shoulder and the flank so it reads as a skin rather than a flat overlay. The same grid then appears over a close-up of a piston and its rings, which is the argument of the film made as a picture: what wraps the animal wraps the metal. The tiger next becomes the grid, a glowing yellow wireframe that keeps walking across black in the same gait, and the line has the soft bloom of an optical effect rather than a clean digital edge. The voice-over says the oil forms pysyvän, suojaavan voitelupinnan, a lasting protective lubricating film, and that friction drops and fuel is saved. It ends plainly on a photographed tiger against blue beside the Esso oval, with no Finnish text on screen anywhere in the film.
