The restaurant

A series of three commercials, drawn with Magic Marker pens on paper.

The lead animator was Jeff Goldner. He added the cartoon humour and the perfect timing to the animation.

A waiter carries a bottle on a tray to a couple drawn in outline at a table. Two diners toast with red glasses as a covered dish is carried in behind them. A stout cook walks past the table while a waiter leans in with bottles. A waiter in a wide hat serves the table, a woman seated opposite him. One long looping line sweeps from a raised plate across the diners’ table. A Visa card on a printed bill beside a silver dish, end line beneath it. A teddy bear sits in the trolley while a drawn woman covers her face. A drawn woman at a checkout with goods flying up towards the cashier. A bank card lies on printed slips with a subtitle across the bottom. The drawn man reaches for the handle of a barred door lettered BANK. The drawn man bursts out through the doorway with speed lines trailing behind him. The drawn man stands before the barred bank door with both arms flung up. The drawn man runs left away from the barred bank door, legs flying. A hand slides a payment card over two banknotes, white subtitle beneath on black.

The supermarket film ends on “Et tarvitse muita kortteja, Visa on Suomessakin ylivoimainen” [you need no other cards, in Finland too Visa is in a class of its own], and the cash machine film on “Et tarvitse muita kortteja, Visalla saat rahaa automaateista” [you need no other cards, Visa gets you money from cash machines].
